HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar Launched National Digital Library of India

Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar launched the National Digital Library of India (NDLI). The library will become a single window platform for all educational needs.

Users can register for free on the National Digital Library from Google Play store. The library can be accessed at ndl.iitkgp.ac.in. The library is an integrated platform for schools, colleges, universities, teachers, and students.

5th National Standards Conclave Held in New Delhi

The 5th National Standards Conclave- Implementing the Indian National Strategy for Standardization was held in New Delhi. It was organized by Department of Commerce and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Two reports were also released by Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Indian National Strategy for Standardization (INSS) and CII-ASL Study on TBT/SPS Notifications.

Telangana Police Launched 'Cop Connect' App

The Telangana police have launched a mobile-based messenger application named 'Cop Connect' dedicated to provide real-time information to over 60,000 police officers across the State.

The mobile-based application launched by the Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy will also support the police department in improving quality of service delivered to the public.

President Ram Nath Kovind approves Governor's rule in J&K after BJP-PDP split

President Ram Nath Kovind approved the Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) following the resignation of Mehbooba Mufti as Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister.

The move came hours after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pulled out of its alliance with Mehbooba Mufti’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the “critical security situation” in the Valley. After BJP-PDP split, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had submitted a detailed report to the President regarding the Governor’s rule after receiving it from J&K Governor NN Vohra.

Health Ministry launches National Health Resource Repository project

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda launched the National Health Resource Repository (NHRR) in New Delhi. The repository is India’s first ever national healthcare facility registry of authentic, standardised and updated geo-spatial data of all public and private healthcare establishments.

This resource repository shall enable advanced research towards ongoing & forthcoming healthcare challenges arising from other determinants of health such as disease and environment.

Pakistan has more nuclear warheads than India

  • Pakistan, with 140-150 nuclear warheads, is ahead of India which has 130-140 warheads, according to a report by global think-tank SIPRI.
  • “India and Pakistan are both expanding their nuclear weapon stockpiles as well as developing new land-, sea- and air-based missile delivery systems,” the report stated.
  • Meanwhile, US and Russia are on top with 6,450 and 6,850 warheads, respectively.

World Refugee Day - June 20

The World Refugee Day is observed every year June 20 to raise awareness of the situation of refugees throughout the world. Observance of this day seeks to draw attention to the plight of refugees and also to celebrate their courage and resilience and renew commitment to solve refugee problems. The theme for World Refugee Day 2018 is "Now More Than Ever, We Need to Stand with Refugees".

International Yoga Day being celebrated world over today - 21 June 2018

Yoga Day being celebrated world over today The 4th International Yoga Day is being celebrated across the globe today. In India Prime Minister Narendra Modi led thousands of people in performing yoga asanas, in the main event organised at Forest Research Institute in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He called upon people to make Yoga a movement and a part of their lives. He said Yoga has emerged as the biggest unifying force in the world and has become a biggest mass movement.
