NITI Aayog’s agenda for ‘New India 2022’

NITI Aayog will soon come out with a development agenda for ‘New India 2022’, which will spell out strategy for expediting economic growth of India, said its Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar

“The NITI Aayog is committed to bringing out a vision document and a strategy framework as originally mandated. The work on the strategy document is on advanced stage and will most likely be titled Development Agenda document for New India 2022. “And once this document has been completed and put in public domain, the work on preparing 15-year vision till 2030 will start,”

NITI Aayog had earlier planned to come out with three documents: 3 year action agenda, 7 year medium-term strategy paper and 15 year vision document.

Haryana to adopt startup ranking

Haryana government recenlty announced that it had decided to adopt startup ranking framework issued by Department Of Industrial Policy And Promotion(DIPP), Government of India, to undertake an exercise to assess the state on key areas of interventions that are relevant to a healthy start-up ecosystem.

He(CM) said the State Governmenthas launched the Entrepreneurand start-up policy during the Digital Haryana Summit, 2017 with an aim to transform the state into a resourceful and inventive start-up hub, by supporting and assisting the new-age innovators and entrepreneurial talents across the state.

A framework is spread across seven areas of interventions with a total of 38 action points and overall score of 100 mark

Under the framework, out of 38 action points, 21 action points requires submission of supporting documents, one action point requires only stakeholder feedback and 16 action points required both components for the assessment of state start-up initiatives.

GOBAR-DHAN Scheme launched to promote wealth and energy from waste.

Union Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Uma Bharti, launched the GOBAR (Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources) - DHAN scheme at the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) Auditorium, Karnal, Haryana.

  • Scheme is Lauched under Sawacch Bharat Mission
  • Aim of the Scheme is: to positively impact village cleanliness and generate wealth and energy from cattle and organic waste.

    The scheme, which is basically associated with Swachh Bharat Mission, also aims at creating new rural livelihood opportunities and enhancing income for farmers and other rural people.

    Govt. launches Pilot scheme Procurement of Aggregate Power of 2500 MW

    The Government launches a Pilot Scheme for Procurementof Aggregate Power of 2500 MW on competitive basis for 3 (three) years under medium term.

    • Under the scheme a single entity can be allotted maximum capacity of 600 MW.
    • The Scheme assures a minimum off-take of 55 per cent of contracted capacity.
    • The Tariff will be fixed for three years without any escalation.

    SC eases procedure for case record transfer

    The recent order passed by Justices A.K. Goel and R.F. Nariman changes all that. “We direct that if in future the trial court record is summoned, the trial courts may send photocopy/scanned copy of the record and retain the original so that the proceedings are not held up,” the Supreme Court Bench directed. It directed a copy of its order be sent to all High Courts.

    Trial courts need to give only photocopies of case records to higher courts. The transfer, to and fro, of original records impedes speedy trial, the Supreme Court ordered.

    Swachh Bharat Summer Internship commenced

    Swachh Bharat Summer Internship programme, which aims to engage millions of youngsters across the country, to encourage them to contribute to the Swachh Bharat Mission in the spirit of a true 'janandolan'.

  • The internship period commences from May 1 and ends on July 31.
  • Under the internship, all interns who complete at least 100 hours of sanitation related work in villages would be given a Swachh Bharat certificate.
  • Those who complete the internship with additional, specified outputs would also gain 2 curriculum credits specially allowed by UGC.
  • Top performers would receive awards at the College and University / District (NYKS), State and National Level.

    NASA to launch its first mission to study deep interior of Mars.

    NASA is all set to send the first-ever mission dedicated to exploring the deep interior of Mars.

    InSight Mission

    Scheduled to launch on May 5, InSight — a stationary lander — will also be the first NASA mission since the Apollo moon landings to place a seismometer.

  • Seismometer is a device that measures quakes, on the soil of another planet.
  • InSight or the Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport mission, carries a suite of sensitive instruments to gather data.
  • InSight is a truly international space mission.
  • InSight currently is at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California undergoing final preparation before launch.

    9th India-Japan Energy Dialogue Held in New Delhi

    The 9th India Japan Energy Dialogue was held in New Delhi. Minister of State(IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R.K Singh, and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Hiroshige Seko signed a Joint Statement at the conclusion of the meeting.

    Both the countries agreed to work together for energy security, energy access and climate change issues. They also agreed to initiate the discussion on Electric Vehicles (EVs) and commit to work together in promoting well-functioning energy markets.

    WhatsApp boss and co-founder Jan Koum to quit

    The billionaire chief executive of WhatsApp, Jan Koum, is planning to leave the company after clashing with its parent, Facebook, over the popular messaging service’s strategy and Facebook’s attempts to use its personal data and weaken its encryption, according to people familiar with internal discussions.

    Koum, who sold WhatsApp to Facebook for more than $19 billion in 2014, also plans to step down from Facebook’s board of directors, according to these people. The date of his departure isn’t known.

    WhatsApp, with 1.5 billion monthly users, is the largest messaging service in the world.

    Rizvi claims No.1 spot pistol rankings

    Indian shooter Shahzar Rizvi grabbed the number one spot in ISSF world rankings, riding on his silver medal-winning performance in the just-concluded World Cup in Changwon, Korea.

    The other Indian shooter in the world top-10 rankings is Jitu Rai, who is placed sixth. Among the women, Manu Bhaker, who won a historic gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, was the only Indian in the top-10 of the women's 10m air pistol rankings at the fourth spot.

    • Akademik Lomonosov is the world’s first “floating” nuclear power plant (FNPP).
    • It has headed out on its first sea voyage from the St.Peterburg, Baltic shipyard.
    • At Murmansk, Russia, its reactors will be loaded with nuclear fuel.
    • Russian state-run atomic energy corporation Rosatom is responsible for FNPP.
    • The Lomonosov is expected to be put into service in early 2019

    World Asthma Day observed on first Tuesday of May

    • World Asthma Day is celebrated worldwide on the first Tuesday of May every year.
    • It is organised by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA), it is a global health event aimed at improving asthma awareness and care worldwide.
    • The theme of this year’s event is ‘Never too early, never too late’.
    • Asthma is a chronic lung disease that is caused by inflammation of the airways.

    • It is observed every year to promote and encourage the international labour associations.
